Finding the right reward programs

Tuesday August 19, 2008

Many people look just at what their bank offers in credit card reward programs when looking for a premium credit card, but this is short sighted. Unless you are careful when choosing a credit card to also be thorough in choosing reward programs that will suit your needs, you can very easily end up with a liability rather than a more rewarding means of spending.

If you will never use the rewards on offer in some reward programs, you should avoid applying for a credit card that includes them. While the potential of reward programs is nice, credit cards with reward programs often have higher fees and interest rates than other kinds of credit cards. If you aren't utilising reward programs effectively there is no reason for you to have them.
